Summary: Jason, a fifteen year old, is selling newspapers in New York City in the late 1890s. His paper is selling like crazy, then finally he has a chance to read what it is all about: gold found in the west. He realizes that he too, has the gold fever and makes his way across the United States heading toward Alaska despite the fact he recently had left his brothers in Seattle wanting to prove to them that he could make it on his own. He tries to make it to Seattle quick enough to meet up with his brothers once again. But, they had already left to go find gold. He does everything he can to make it to Alaska, he stows away on a ship, meeting many people on his way. He overcomes close to death experiences to eventually find his brothers.
